
The solar system consists of the Sun and all the objects that orbit it, including the
planets, dwarf planets, moons, and small bodies such as asteroids, comets, and the comet nuclei in
the Kuiper belt and the Oort cloud. The drawing is not to scale overall. The representations of the
Kuiper belt and the Oort cloud are simplified; the former is actually a doughnut-shaped zone, while
the latter is thought to be a spherical shell.
